How to exit from the Crisis?
GUE/NGL and European Left members gathered yesterday during the afternoon, in the European Parliament, with representatives of European trade unions to debate the exit strategies of the current crisis.
The critical point of the debate was the strategy EU2020 that, according to MEP Eva Brit-Svensson, forgets half of the European population - the women: “the employment levels must be reached by the two genders with different solutions, because they are politically affected in different forms”.
Strategy EU2020 does not offer, moreover, “a combined answer for the population with coherent and common criteria to all state-members, it is nothing but a strategy that keeps on with the privatizations and liberalizations politics and that cannot decide this crisis”, defended the German deputy Gabi Zimmer.
“And these measures are not more than what the continuation of the Strategy of Lisbon - they do not offer sustainable and ecological actions and they don’t take into consideration the job creation. The climatic objectives of this strategy are a scandal”, added Sabine Wills, deputy of the Environment commission.
Joe Higgins, deputy from Dublin, reaffirmed that strategy EU2020 perpetuates the capitalist and liberal politics and asked for a common reply from the workers unions to fight against the actions of the European governments touching poor. “The workers should not pay a single cent and thus break the dictatorship of the markets, which only harms the innocent people”, regretted the member of the parliament.
GUE/NGL group is now to planning one week of joint intervention in the European countries from the 21st to the 26th of June.
