"Let's change Europe together and transform it to a Europe of peace, democracy and justice. The time is now!”

Tsipras, in the EP, with Bisky

Besides all the warnings of left and social movements on the disastrous consequences for the people, the country, and all Europe, the Greek Prime Minister decided to use the mechanism of the E.U and the IMF on last Friday.

Synaspismos and the European Left have already proposed a different way to tackle the crisis, defending Greek people shouldn’t pay for a crisis that they haven’t provoked but the dominant forces in Europe, led by the European financial system, the ECB and German Chancellor, Ms Angela Merkel, together with the Greek Prime Minister and his government, paved the way for this catastrophic choice.

As in all democratic societies, Greek people demand to have a voice on a crisis that is daily affecting them, however Papandreou's government refuses even to ask for the approval by the Parliament for his choice.

According to Synaspismos and its coalition SYRIZA, the power is now on people hands: "Greek workers now carry the important duty to resist to these decisions, in the name of the future generations - in the name of all workers and people of Europe";The Greek party also defends that a referendum should be done.

Alexis Tsipras, Synaspismos president, demands for the solidarity, collaboration and coordination of parties, working class and people’s action “in order to develop struggles all over Europe, against the attack that our people are undertaking today and which all European people will face tomorrow. We must resist together. Let's change Europe together and transform it to a Europe of peace, democracy and justice. The time is now!”, he urged.
