Thousands of young people ask for real democracy now in several Spanish cities

AP

Thousands of citizens are sleeping in tents in the main squares of Madrid, Barcelona, Granada and some other cities in Spain. Under the slogan of "real democracy now" thousands of people marched on Saturday and Sunday in Spain. After the march they settled  a protest camp in the main squares to express anger at political parties and the country's handling of the economic crisis. They blame the 2 main political parties to aply cuts in the social system while the banks are getting richer and richer.

At five days from the municipal elections, thousands of Spanish people went to the streets of fifty cities of the country to denounce the precariousness created by the right wing. But the desperate situation lived by so many young people and the will for fight for employment and  social rights made hundreds of Spanish youngsters to continue concentrated in Madrid, Granada, Seville and other Andalusian cities demanding a truth democracy.

As the movement of the 12th of March in Portugal the claim came from social networks and yesterday evening a massive mass invaded Puerta del Sol square in Madrid. The actions are also part of a Movement called 15 of May, that begun on Sunday in more than 50 cities throughout Spain.

Besides the significance of the global crisis of capitalism, the burst of antisocial policies by the right wing deepens the unease of the people. Indeed, very severe budgetary restrictions are being applied against public services, in particular in health and education.  The Catalan Government for example, with the nationalist right of Artur Mas, has violently attacked the public services with reductions of the General budgets, which already provoked the increase of jobs non-renewals and made thousands of graduated health and education professionals unemployed.  Requiring more means for the social and general interest, the Spanish refuse to pay a crisis which is not their own.
