The arms trade is centred on maximising profit for private companies rather than being centred on creating peace in the world. In a world facing economic, social and climate crisis, we, the Party of European Left, are concerned in investing on people, on unemployment funds, on climate change research instead of perpetuating a system that is paying to carry out military and military-industrial organisations.

We would like to see the Europe, and the world, to adopt an ethical policy which refocuses its efforts on research which will bring peace in the world and help to solve social and environmental problems.

The “International Conference for a Nuclear Free, Peaceful, Just & Sustainable World”, which it is taking place from April 30-May 1, it is a fundamental step to the United Nations Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review.

Hundreds of international organisations will organize a weekend of action to bring pressure to world leaders attending the event at the U.N. headquarters, culminating on a march for peace on Sunday.
