Spanish Police violently attacks peaceful Demonstrators from Barcelona protest camp

Peaceful protestors have been surrounded in Plaza de Cataluña, in Barcelona, by intervention police officers in the early hours of today under the pretext of cleaning the square due to the Champions League soccer match celebration.

The police officers have destroyed the camp where hundreds of people were staying in a peaceful protest against corruption, austerity measures and bank bailouts continued for a 12th day in Madrid.

They destroyed and threw away tents, food, books, buildings, computers and the documents to garbage truck which they had prepared.

After seven hours, at 1pm, police vans were able to enter in the square. But around them, thousands of people were gathered to prevent the expulsion. Police decided to brutally assaulted people and at this time there are around 70 injured.

People in other Spanish cities are expressing outrage on the police violence and unlawful behavior. Other expulsions have occurred in Badalona and LLeida.

“The struggle of the 15th of May movement must continue and cannot be impeded by any public force. Any expulsion is an assault against the movement of 15 May. We call on all seats and campsites to manifest this evening at 19 H against these expulsions - NO NOS VAMOS”, demonstrators in Madrid are claiming.

Spanish people are now requesting that the responsible of the Police authorities should be condemned by such an anti-democratic, unlawful and violent conduct. A petition online is circulating to demand the immediate resignation of the Minister of Interior of the Generalitat Catalana, responsible for police forces.
