“Socialismo 2010” - Fight against unemployment is priority for the next year
The first Summer Festival/ Political Forum of a European Left Party already took place this weekend – Socialismo 2010, a forum of clear and strong Left ideas, happened in Braga, Portugal, organized by the Left Bloc.
The current crisis and the ineffective political answers from the forces that are governing Europe were strongly criticized in an auditorium of hundreds of people. The Stability pacts were pointed as the contrast of a stable life, based in a stable job, with the legitimacy of the social rights.
Francisco Loucã, Left Bloc President, spoke on the urgency of the social fights and the possibility of a real and concrete alternative to the neoliberal politics. Marisa Matias, member of the European Parliament on the behalf of the Left Bloc reaffirmed the support of the party to the European day of fight on the 29th September.
Other international matters, ecology and earth politics, and economic and social problems were included in the debates that ended with several proposals of a modern Left, which fights against precariousness and intends to create an employment policy, a national health system, with equal rights for all.
“A policy of democracy and trustiness”, was the definition of the Left BLoc speech for the next year, a year of social fights, starting in the 29th of September and passing by a strong struggle for peace, during the NATO summit in November, scheduled for the 19th November.
