The Party of the European Left supports the “Resolution of Solidarity with the people of Cyprus on the confrontation of the Turkish aggression in the EEZ of the Republic of Cyprus”

"The undersigned Communist and Workers Parties participating in the Regional Meeting that took place in Cyprus on 24-25th October 2014:

In Italy, hundreds of thousands of people demonstrated last weekend against the so-called “job  act” of the Renzi government,  in defense of workers' rights and against its policies of austerity.  All across the continent neoliberal  model continue to jeopardize the  labor market.

Following the congress in Madrid on December 2013, the EL has deployed its action for an alternative to austerity, a united exit to the financial crisis and, according to our proposals, for a social and democratic refunding of Europe.

The party of the European Left sends its warm and solidary greetings to President Dilma Roussef, to whom the Brazilian people gave their trust once again.

A delegation of the Party of the European Left (EL) will go out tomorrow October 27th towards Diyarbakır (Turkish Kurdistan) to meet the Kurdish population who is being attacked by the Islamic State and has been able to crossed the border and arrive to the Turkish villages controlled by the Kurds of the BDP and the HDP, who received them.

It is with regret that I cannot be there with you for this celebration of the youth of SYRIZA which, obviously, is a great occasion.

I turn to you today full of hope. Because it could be that in Greece the history accelerates for the better. And because I feel that what we are building at the European level is not only useful, but it bears its fruit little by little.

The Scottish people voted against the independence of their country. However, the sequence they have just lived will remain on their minds for long time. In a certain way, the “yes” won, too. David Cameron should listen this message and draw conclusions about the policy he's leading.
